Ironhack’s Prework: Challenge 2 Wireframing

The second challenge in the Prework of Ironhacks UX/UI Design Bootcamp is about wireframing and prototyping. The task in this challenge is to choose an app and find a flow to work on.

I thought PayPal would be a good choice, because they provide an easy way to send or receive money. Nearly everybody use it and it became a global standard. People don’t send money these days, they just „PayPal“ money.

I am using it myself quite often among friends, for sharing the bill or just paying back money, which I borrowed or simply for online shopping.

In the beginning, I took some screenshots and start to draw a lo-fi wireframe with user flow of the single screens, which appear when you are sending money with PayPal. At this point I noticed, how simple the app was designed. They really focus on function here.

After drawing the lo-fi version, it was time to take the next step and build the wireframes in Figma. As I said before, I am new to the UX/UI Design field and have not used Figma that much, but I did some exercises in the prework and I knew I could do it somehow.

The last task of this challenge is to put together a prototype in Figma. And I think its very cool to see how your designed screens come to life as a clickable prototype.

This exercise proved me again, that less is more. Keeping it simple with the design really helps to focus on functionality and structure in the first place, and that is highly important at the beginning of every design process.
